Myth 1: The best quality products are not made locally
We cannot speak for other industries, but the most recognised international corporations have kept a huge golden secret! What most South Africans don’t know is that most of the products sold by these corporations on the local and international markets are made right here on our doorstep by locally owned businesses.

Myth 2: The more expensive it is, the better quality it is
As Africans, we are so used to paying inflated prices that when we see a competitive price, we instinctively become sceptical and ask, “what’s the catch?.”
We understand businesses need to make a profit to survive but it is simply unacceptable what some of these corporations consider fair mark ups!
Please don’t misunderstand us and think that the cheap generic products will work just as well as the established brands, because there are plenty of inferior products that should not be in the market place at all.

Myth 3: We can get it cheaper from China
If local businesses are well run and their systems are efficient, then the cost saving in manufacturing can be passed on to the end user. If one were to compare 2 products equivalent in quality, one made locally and one made in China, then the manufacturing cost would be very similar. The advantage of the local market product is that there are no import costs. If the local sellers do not mark up the prices with ridiculously high profits, local product will be the preferred choice.

And don’t be fooled into thinking our local businesses cannot make it on the world stage – they are competing head to head with the world’s best, and in most cases, winning!

___ They have proven to be ethical in their business dealings by their actions, not what they say.
___ They help you analyse your costs and make decisions not just based on initial price,  but also on how much it will cost you in the long run.
